Chi the Husky/Atika Rescue Dog cross

Dave and Chi the Husky/Atika Rescue Dog cross

UPDATE: After a few weeks of not having Sally around due to health reasons I began to think that maybe it was a waste of time as Chi had picked up many good habits but had fallen into some bad habits all over again. I started to think that I would just have to live with it.

With a few weeks off I decided to give it all one big final go and Sally came round for only 2hrs. Wow, what I had forgotten was how brilliant it all was and Chi had forgotten nothing; it was simply me who had lost confidence! Sally not only had me feeling more confident within minutes but also managed to get Chi to walk next to us off least. Unbelievable...with time on my side I am more commited than ever and am putting all my efforts into the process.

Seeing is believing and everytime Sally comes round the more of a believer I become.

Chi is a Husky x Akita rescue dog who I have had for almost 2 years.

She came with many of the usual drawbacks of any rescue dog; the fear of people, anxiety, lack of desire to play with toys but she was clearly a lovely dog. She loved playing with other dogs from day 1 but being such a strong willed, energetic and playful dog, she had a tendency to not listen and want to run and play until she decided she was done.

I had somewhat come to terms with much of this as I believed she had come such a long way from when I first met her and would generally listen with an incentive or two. I believed she was of a stubborn breed and I had lucked out with how good she had become. However much she had improved the biggest problem was she was still petrified of two people, my parents.

Being close to my family I hated seeing this from both Chi’s terrified point of view as well as my parents, having done nothing wrong. I had received advice from many dog trainers and online but to limited success. I thought I had tried everything but finally, on advice of my mum, sought a ‘dog whisperer’. Sally’s name popped up online and there is no hiding my scepticism having tried so many things, not to mention the cost. I thought I had nothing left to lose and boy was I right.

Sally came by for what 3hrs in which she originally met me and Chi alone before my parents arrived. All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE. In the first 10mins I knew I had made a good choice as she relieved my concerns and let me know the truth behind Chi’s issues. I felt at ease and more importantly by seeing her teachings in action saw the difference in Chi and how good she could be. I also understood more about why things were happening making me more at ease and an all-round better owner.

Anyone who says you can’t train a certain dog or that dog whisperer’s don’t work need to see it in action. Sally has been worth every penny and we have never been happier! Still a long way to go but I am sure I will be feeling more confident after every session…
